Recs from Week Three of Fests
I have several links here, most of which you've seen already (heh, I was a lucky, lucky girl this week!), but I'm dropping them again, because fest comments are down across the board and I figure maybe a bunch of y'all didn't see when I posted them last time, for one reason or another.
Remember, y'all, when you read/view something and you like it? Leave feedback for the author/artist. It's disheartening as hell to work your ass off on a fic, get it as perfect as you can, and then hear nothing but resounding silence in return.

I actually haven't been reccing individual things from here, because everything's just been THAT AWESOME, but these were for me *is lucky lucky lucky* and therefore deserve a bit of extra acknowledgement. He Wants Him is the most delicious of kinks: double dipping. Guh and yum and bullet-proof, this kink is. And the fic more than lives up to the kink! Bill/Draco, Charlie/Draco and hints at more. Oh, sweet lord, I think this fic may have spontaneously impregnated me. If it didn't, then the art I received CERTAINLY did. Taste is a Kingsley/Charlie art of utter holy hell hotness that just... omg. Tongue and freckles and hipbones and scruff and Kingsley's bald head and... Well. If I was a guy, I'd have been in the same visible state as Charlie. Ahem.
lupin_snape's Snupin Santa:
I have not read a lot from this fest, but this one came highly recommended to me. Mad Wolves and Englishmen. Hilarious and hot and everything I ever want from a fic, including Texas. :D This Snape is just perfect and Remus--who, let's be honest, it takes a lot to make me like since I kind of hated him a lot in canon--was believably himself while somehow also being a fucking awesome character. I have no idea how the author pulled that one off, but she/he did it splendidly! I loved this fic to death and can't rec it enough.

There will be a part two to this tomorrow. I am tired and know I'm forgetting a bunch of fic and art, so. Tomorrow. There will also be non-fest fics in tomorrow's batch, so for those who need to know the author before committing to reading, look out for that.

The Captains Jack
These are the days where papers and other media all over are announcing "the X and Y of the decade". It's always fun to be retrospect and it got me thinking. A thinking also prompted by ( watching Pirates of the Caribbean )
Again, positive thinking in this post. I'm not up for discussing much these days (depression does that to me), so please don't link anywhere. I just wanted to share a few thoughts here on the cusp of the decade. On a night where there's not much to be positive about, so please humour me in not linking.
Common sense disclaimer of course applies: this is my opinion, nothing less and nothing more. Respectful disagreement is of course welcome! Disrespectful anything is not.

Oh, this is just utterly brilliant! It's the story of what went on behind the scenes at Hogwarts during that final year of the war, and it's inventive, smart, and entirely plausible. The author's Slughorn voice is simply amazing. He's so damned Slytherin, and does so enjoy his comforts, and has this almost flippant, dismissive way of talking about serious events -- yet there's a keen mind, a staunch commitment to what's important, and a lot of feeling beneath the surface.

The premise here is smart, original, and just so darned cool! What I think I like most about this fic, however, is Harry. He's not an idiot and he's not a kid. She's a sharp, in control (mostly!) adult. He's someone who could hold authority and be a real match for Snape, and that's a refreshing thing to see these days.

[VID] White Collar - Neal/Peter/Elizabeth - Peroxide Swing
This is not drawing. This is also not laundry. Today was decompression time though, so laundry has been pushed to tomorrow. In the process of compiling this I realised the creative niche that vidding fills for me, which is being able to sort all my squeeful thoughts and say here are all the things I love about ____. With music attached. I always feel slightly weird about vidding since I don't approach it with any intention to learn the finer details of editing or crafting a strong visual narrative, but coming to understand why I vid makes me feel more comfortable sharing what I've made.
I also feel like all the classic and contemporary big band/crooners I've been listening to while working in the lab this semester was just preparing me to fall in love with this show. Also, OT3 much? Purr.
